S14 : For customers who are interested in having their E30 M3's S14 power plant tuned we have
a specific process. These engines are truely amazing when developed correctly and if not a petrol based nightmare.
Often forgotten ( S38 ) :
( S50, S52, S54 ) Tuner impression.
S50 : Depending on who you speak with, some people will underate this motor.
As a personal view, I feel the motor is a well rounded motor, reliable, quick not fast but quick, and in terms of a base plant it is capable of a diversity in terms of how one could approach developement of a given engine.
S52 : The S52 fallows a close DNA with that of the S50, however it does have an increased displacement of roughly 200cc's. In terms of does it produce more power, no.
It does increase the torque and how power is developed but at a cost of the natural rev-friendly
nature that the S50 has. Where the S50 feels gutless the S52 oooz's torque when compaired.
It also features OBD II vs OBD I. And so you are playing with a somewhat more complicated architecture.
S54 : The S54 is a truely amazing engine, a little more sensitive then it's predecesors.
It also featured many more electronic integrations then the more mechanical S52 & S50.
In terms of mechanicals the engine itself is relatively robust. Furthermore the the bigger issue is more so the electronics and how these systems work in conjunction to each modification. The calibration of these systems is chritical when wanting to optimize additional tuning integral or exturnal or otherwise.
